Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology is one of the departments in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at Hawassa University. It offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, as well as postgraduate degrees that include a Master of Arts/MA in Social Psychology, and Counseling Psychology in different modalities such as regular and continuous education programs. In both levels, the Department of Psychology aims to produce well-equipped and trained professionals who apply the principles, concepts, theories, and practices of psychology. This effort aims to meet the demands of governmental, nongovernmental, and private agencies. Additionally, the department focuses on conducting high-quality research on various psychological, educational, and social issues faced by the community. Furthermore, it provides essential public services to individuals, institutions, and groups concerning problems related to psychology. To effectively run these programs, the department recognizes the importance of adequate resources and facilities. It is staffed with qualified academicians holding various academic positions, including 1 associate professor, 3 PhD holders, 7 PhD candidates, 1 assistant professor, and 7 MA holders, each with diverse specialties.
