Department of Educational Planning and Management
Established in 2009, the Department
of Educational Planning and Management (EdPM) is one of the vibrant and
academically active departments under the College of Education and Behavioral
Sciences at Hawassa University,
Ethiopia.

Since its establishment, the department has been at the forefront of developing competent educational leaders, school leaders, planners, and policy experts dedicated to transforming Ethiopia’s education system. It remained committed to advancing the quality of educational leadership and management in Ethiopia and beyond. The department currently operates with 15 active academic staff members and 5 on study leave, with 65% of the staff holding PhDs and serving at the rank of Assistant Professor and above. The academic team includes six Associate Professors with PhDs, five Assistant Professors (three of whom hold PhDs, and two are PhD candidates), and eight Lecturers, of whom three are PhD candidates and the rest hold MA degrees.

Programs Offered
The Department offers a broad range of academic programs tailored to meet the growing demands for educational leaders and policy experts in the education sector:
Undergraduate Program:
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Educational Planning and Management
Postgraduate Programs (MA):
- MA in Educational Leadership and Management
- MA in Educational Supervision and Quality Management
These MA programs are offered in regular, continuing, and distance education modalities to accommodate a diverse range of learners.
Doctoral Programs:
- PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
- Doctor of Education (DEd) in Educational Policy and Strategic Management
