Welcome to the Department of Lifelong Learning and Community Development. We prepare the educators and development agents who empower communities and fuel national transformation.
Our Evolution
Originally established as the Department of Adult Education, we have continually evolved to meet the country’s changing needs recognizing the vital link between continuous learning and community progress, we revised our curriculum and officially changed our name to Lifelong Learning and Community Development. Our new curriculum was validated on April 23, April, 2021, with guidance from the Ministry of Science & Higher Education (MoSHE) and input from experts across Ethiopia’s university network.

A Pioneering Program
We are proud to offer the first program of its kind in Ethiopian higher education, uniquely designed to integrate lifelong learning with community development. This innovative approach equips students to become skilled designers and facilitators of sustainable community growth.

Programs We Offer
Undergraduate Program:
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in Lifelong Learning and Community Development (BA)
Postgraduate Program:
- Masters of Arts Degree in Adult Education and Community Development (MA)
- Both programs are offered in regular, weekend, and summer modalities to accommodate diverse learners.
Now the department has a degree curriculum program entitled Bachelor of Arts Degree in Lifelong Learning &Community Development (BA), Masters of Arts Degree in Adult Education and Community Development (MA), in different modalities that include regular, weekend and summer categories.
